What is the warranty for this product?

All of our products offer a 1-year warranty for electrical issues and a 2-year warranty for mechanical issues. A proof of purchase is required to have the warranty honored. We still service products that are out of warranty or have human error issues but we charge for the parts and labor of the repair (cost depends on the specific issue).

I lost the cage’s mounting screws. Can I buy replacements?

Yes you can! Please contact our sales department for the specific screw you need by emailing sales@tilta.com (pictures of where the screw is missing greatly helps us understand which screw).

The run/stop functionality of my wooden handle or Nucleus-M hand unit/handgrips is not working with my Red DSMC2 camera. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

A certain setting needs to be turned on in the camera. Go to Setup → Settings → Communication → Serial → choose REDLINK Command Protocol. This should provide communication to the I/O module/battery module to allow you to use the R/S functionality.

I don’t want to buy an entire cage and just want the I/O module/top plate. Can I do this?

Accepted Answer

Due to the power pass-through functionality of the cages, the separated parts are for replacement only. Without each part connecting to each other, there would be exposed pins which is unsafe for your camera setup.

Is there a way to extend the length of the top handle in order to operate the camera off the back of the setup?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer straight extension pieces as well as angled extension pieces so that the handle can be extended over the back of the battery.

The R/S button on the top handle is not triggering the camera. What’s wrong?

Accepted Answer

There is a switch on the front of the top plate that needs to switched to the “on” position for the R/S function to trigger.

How many Amps of power does the cage provide?

Accepted Answer

Each individual port on the cage provides up to 3 Amps of power. However, the back module of each cage can provide up to 7 Amps total between all ports while the top plate and top handle together can provide up to 8 Amps total between all ports.

The baseplate that comes with each cage seems to fit onto smaller dovetails than the Arri standard size dovetails. What dovetail is it compatible with?

The baseplate interfaces with the Tilta Standard Lightweight Dovetails that we offer, which you can find on our website.

On my gold mount battery plate-fitted cage, when I touch the battery while the camera is powered on, the whole system shuts down. What’s wrong?

Accepted Answer

We’ve designed our gold mount battery plates using Anton Bauer’s Dionic batteries as the standard for the size of the gold mount stud mounting holes. Unfortunately there isn’t an industry-wide standard for the size of these studs so your batteries might be slightly different in size compared to how we’ve designed the plate, causing it to move enough while mounted to shut down your camera. We recommend using different gold mount batteries.

When I plug my monitor or wireless video transmitter into the HDMI port of the cage, the Red LCD/EVF display shuts down. Why is this?

Red has designed their camera system’s HDMI functionality in this way. There is nothing wrong with your cage.

Do the XLR ports in the B1 cage’s Advanced I/O Module provide phantom power?

Accepted Answer

No, the B1 cage’s Advanced I/O Module does not provide phantom power.

What’s the difference between the A1, B1, and C1 cages?

Accepted Answer

The A1 cage includes Tilta’s own Basic I/O Module that gives your camera setup multiple power, video, and audio in/outputs. The B1 cage includes Tilta’s Advanced I/O Module which is similar to the Basic I/O Module but has more in/outputs and also gives you two XLR inputs so that you use microphones straight into the camera. The C1 cage includes the Tilta Battery Module which directly integrates with the Red V-lock I/O Expander to provide more in/outputs as well as power pass-through throughout your cage, making it ideal for users who already own Red’s own V-lock I/O Expander.
