Basic Ring Grip Plus vs Advanced Ring Grip

DJI Video

In this new Tilta Tech Channel video, Nick takes a look at the new Basic Ring Grip Plus and compares it to the high-end Advanced Ring Grip.

One of the key features of all of Tilta’s ring grips is that they give you two points of contact, either through mechanical or control handles. All of the ring grips also include the same electronic contact points on the top and bottom, which allows for easy mounting of V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates to power the system. Additionally, they all include a mount for a power supply module, which is a great spot to mount monitors or other accessories. They also include a mount for a battery handle, which not only powers the entire ring grip through the Ronin’s original battery, but also provides a top handle for easy operation of low angle shots. All of the ring grips also include kickstands at the bottom, which allows them to be set down when not in use.

The Basic Ring Grip Plus serves as an upgrade and replacement of the original Basic Ring Grip, and is made out of the same aluminum material. However, the construction process has changed slightly to make it slightly lighter than the previous model, and closer in weight to the Advanced Ring Grip. The Basic Ring Grip Plus is fully compatible with all other ring grip accessories, making it a great option for those looking to upgrade or build out a rig in the future.

The Basic Ring Grip Plus Control Kit includes the same frame as the Basic Ring Grip Plus, but also includes a new control handle that gives similar functionality to the Advanced Ring Grip. The control handle includes a joystick to control tilt and pan, an M key to adjust settings, and a record button to control the Run Stop on the gimbal. It also includes a trigger on the front to adjust the gimbal’s position. The pairing process for this new handle is a bit different, as it does not have an LCD screen, but instructions are provided in the video.

The Advanced Ring Grip is the lightest and most advanced option offered by Tilta, made out of carbon fiber and featuring two control handles. One handle includes a joystick for tilt and pan, as well as a dial function that can control a Nucleus motor or a DJI motor, as well as the dial functionality of the gimbal itself. The other handle includes two focus wheels, which allows for control of focus, iris, zoom, and tilt and pan of the gimbal with a single operator, making it the most complete setup currently offered.

Overall, the Basic Ring Grip Plus is a great upgrade option for those looking for a lightweight and customizable ring grip, and the Control Kit is a great option for those looking for more advanced control options. The Advanced Ring Grip is the most lightweight, advanced, and complete option available.
